The SOTAX Physical Testing range has started more than 30 years ago. SOTAX Galenical products or Pharmacotechnie products have first been designed for Disintegration Testing. The DT3 is still used in some pharmaceutical labs and has been one of the most reliable manual Disintegration Tester ever made. A few years after, the DT3 has been automated with new baskets and finally has been replaced by the actual DT2. The Disintegration Tester DT2 is already a great success due to its simplicity of use and its flexibility to allow Manual Disintegration and Automated Disintegration on the same instrument on 3 or 6 tubes' baskets. SOTAX physical testing range has been developed in the last fifteen years with Friability Testing, Powder Flow Testing, Tap Density Testing.
The recent major step in this Physical Testing range dedicated to QC, IPC and Manufacturing has been in 2002 the creation of a complete Tablet Hardness Testing range. The HT1, HT10, HT100 instruments have been designed to solve the common problems inherent to classical Hardness Testers. Allowing Hardness and Weight, Diameter, Length, Thickness measurements the HT instruments are faster, safer, more accurate, can adapt their measurement mode to make inter-instrument comparison and have been designed with the unique patented Auto Alignment™ system for oblong shaped tablets.
The HT100 can be considered due to its unique AutoSeparator™, Transporter, balance boat features as the state of the art in terms of Fully Automated Tablet Testing.
QC, IPC and Manufacturing control all need data security. For that reason a few years ago SOTAX has integrated in its Physical Testing range a powerful Quality Documentation Software, compliant to 21 CFR part 11 guidelines, and able to work in stand-alone and client/server modes: the Q-Doc. This secured software has been designed as a LIMS and can support a complete set of IPC instruments or be used to drive in "Easy Mode" one instrument at the time.
