Disintegration Testing is done to determine whether tablets or capsules disintegrate within the prescribed time when placed in a liquid medium.
Usually the user has to check visually if the tablet or capsule is disintegrated after a certain amount of time. Because of turbidity the user has to raise the basket assembly containing the three or six samples out of the liquid. With the SOTAX Disintegration Tester DT2 the user can enter, pushing on one button, which tablet or capsule is really disintegrated. This disintegration mode is called manual mode. At the end of the test a complete report is printed out including individual disintegrating times, statistics and temperature protocol.
With an automatic detection basket the user doesn't need to raise the basket assembly to check the disintegration. Everything is done automatically from test start to test end. Automated detection of disintegration end point is based on contact of the USP fluted disk with USP stainless steel. A complete report can also be printed out and the Q-Doc software can be used as an option for electronic reporting, LIMS or network connections.
You will find more details clicking on instruments pictures or here whether you need an instrument manual or automated.
